John Galanis, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist at Galanis Cataract & Laser Eye Center, serving patients in St. Louis, MO. He specializes in cataract surgery, glaucoma, and LASIK eye surgery. He has been providing care in the South St. Louis area for over 30 years.
Dr. Galanis earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Washington University. During that time, he was elected to the Tau Beta Phi Engineering Honorary Society and the Eta Kappa Nu Electrical Engineering Honorary Society. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at St. Louis University (SLU) School of Medicine.
Dr. Galanis then completed an internship at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, and his ophthalmology residency at Bethesda Eye Institute, St. Louis University, where he served as chief resident. He then completed a glaucoma fellowship at Estelle Doheny Eye Institute, University of Southern California.
Dr. Galanis is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the St. Louis Ophthalmological Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
